Progressive fun

Well, im not sure if I'm asking it in the right forum but im sure you'll be able to help me
So after playing too much jazz i decided i should also play fun stuff such as proggresive rock\metal.
do you have any recommendations for fun-intermidate-experienced stuff such as Steven Wilson's Luminol or Rush's YYZ and Mlignant narcissim ?

Symphony X has some cool bass. Between the Buried and Me is cool too.
