I'd make a "Gripper" out of it!

Paint it black...

Get it routed for Ripper pups, get a Ripper pickguard and the Seymour Duncan Ripper pickups. And then figure out how you want the rest of the electronics to work.

Also, maybe upgrade the bridge, and get some Hipshot Ultralites.

Capital idea! I'd put Hipshot hardware all around! And black is such a great color for these basses.
 
I've actually got a Ripper III I got from a good guitar collector friend that he got in bits and pieces. I'll have to get started on it soon and throw some pictures up. Be a nice little counterpart for your grabber.

Kind of funny, the frets on mine were pulled out as well.
 
go with Cherry, my grabber is the original Wine Red, and it looks killer
