Project Remember the 60’s

Well I had a Franken P lying around which I loved the neck and tone but the Fender body shape I could never warm up to. So in my twisted mind the only option was to make a custom body, pickguard, and try something a little different w/ the pickup configuration (dual P’s). I started prepping the wood from paint (it’ll be a dark blue) last night so it’s still a few weeks out but I took a few mockup shots and I’m pretty happy w/ the look so far. All feedback is more then welcome.

Well I've already got a harness from Bayou cables so I probably won’t. I wonder how much different the tone would be between series and parallel?

I worry about neck dive. That top horn is quite short.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it'll want to go subterranean but hopefully it's nothing a big wide strap can't fix or manage.

I can probably get some sound clips ups up too when it's done, but I must warn you all in advance I’m a hack w/ a capital “H”. Also what free website would you guys recommend for MP3 hosting?

Light tuners and moving a strap button to the high side of the body may help you with the neck dive.

Cool I'll try that and I guess I forgot to mention the specs

MIJ Fender maple/rosewood neck
Exotic 2-piece Basswood body
DiMarzio Model P in the middle position
DiMarzio Split P in the bridge position
V/V/T controls

Ehhhh... first time I heard about a exotic basswood piece.

Just reread what I posted and I see that there is an error. You have to move the strp button to the bass side.

Sorry that was a joke (apparently not to funny though).

Yeah shifting it to the bass side makes more sense.

Bad news gang I decided that I couldn’t live with the blemishes so I’m going to be sanding off most of the finish and redoing a lot of work. It wasn’t an easy decision but the right one (I hope you all will stand bye me in these trying times). I’m also changing up the base color to seafoam green.

I tried to do the project on the cheap and I'm paying for it now. Lesson learned.
