That's it. Yes. That's part of why I asked you to measure it -- how I originally read that color code was 920k-ohms which would effectively kill any signal going through it. 920 ohms will very slightly attenuate the signal, probably less than 1%.

That's interesting - I was going to be impressed if they were British as they had the Americana look down in their dress. And even the 'groovy' Mamma'a & Papa's-esk song - I though, boy these Brits are really crossing over here! Wonder how often that happened - I mean, Fender guitars/basses and amps were definitely promoted and sought after in the UK. Even Jim Burns' "poster boys" Hank Marvin & the Shadows played Fender guitars for a while. Hank Marvin got the first Fiesta Red Strat in the UK in '59 I think, after an embargo was lifted.
They probably were an endorsing artist for Burns. A bit of a coup for Burns I’d say as they had a couple of songs that hit the million mark. It would be an interesting story of how they became sponsored. Maybe on a tour to the UK?. I’m pretty sure Elaine is still around.

Here's another late '60s American band endorsed by Baldwin/Burns. I think it was due to Baldwin which was a US company who bought the Burns line.
Long time since I heard that one. I must admit I do have nostalgia from time to time about that era and the music. It makes me sad in a way that the flower power made movement petered out, and even more sad at the state of the modern world. Masks and gloves and global pandemics

The late sixties was when I began playing bass as a young teen, so it's always been a reflective time for me. I feel lucky to have began my formative years then - just consider what a young teen is facing today.

I hate keeping track of hrs, but I did spend quite a few hrs today addressing the frets on the VS after receiving my tools from Stew Mac. Just finished the frets and tomorrow will do the pu wire swap to convert WILD DOG into USEABLE TONE. (lacks pizzazz...) The tools really helped do what was needed but I wouldn't recommend doing what I had to do to those who are first-timers. It's precision work and needs to be done very meticulously - and with focus and patience. I liken it to building up a bicycle wheel from parts (which I've done a number of times) - 22 frets / any variety of spokes ... when done it's either 'true', or not.

The Vista Sonic is back together and everything is working as it should. Switched the bridge pu wires and sure enough - it now sounds like a Jazz bass. (center and bridge pu combined) A much better combination than WILD DOG. (sorry Jim Burns) There's still a couple minor buzzing frets so at this point I ordered LaBella RX-N4A-M; MEDIUM SCALE Nickel low-tension flats for it as flats don't broadcast minor buzzing like rounds do. This bass had flats from the factory in 1963 so might as well see what it sounded like then.

Can't recall on which thread I was tipped off to these super-cool retro RI Maton knobs - but they arrived today from Australia. Also sent a cool black & gold sticker and 4 plectrums along with a nice catalog of their acoustic guitars. Don't know where these knobs will end up - may have to design a bass around them!

What timing - had the same knob arrive from Maton this morning (Ibis bass incoming...)

Oh, they are odd (and Jetsons even if predating them). On the bass it's a three position tone selector - not dissimilar from something Burns might do.
