Yes, this one is right up there with someone saying they're coil-tapping with their pickups when actually they're coil-splitting, or that guitar players talk about their tremolo bridges that they actually use for vibrato.
One is correct, while the other is widely accepted, but still incorrect.

How about hot sauce?
Most of it is served at room temperature.
I don't refrigerate chili sauce, BTW. If it's worth having it doesn't need refrigeration.

Edit: It hurt my brain so hard that it took almost a half hour for me to remember the sound of a word that I just used a couple of months ago that I think they were going for but missed- "wean"

It's sort of close if they've heard enough of either hillbillies or latinos pronouncing "wing" a little weengy and then thinking that "wing off" was a colloquialism whose backstory was not worth investigating prior to using?

Present: wing (I wing it)
Past: wang (He wang it)
Past perfect: have wung (You should have wung it)
