We're comparing two different forms of memory. iPods are not the issue. Your original statement was obvious but moot as one clearly is far superior in practice to the other. If they both had similar capacities your statement would be valid. They do not, thus, it is not.

An HD system is definatly more fragile (though not to the point of being a problem USUALLY), but flash just can't hold your whole music collection. There's no point in pointing out that flash is more secure if it can't hold your stuff.
I was under the impression that we were comparing which one lived longer, regardless of size. If you include risk vs. reward then it becomes a whole different matter.
Also, thank you for giving me healthy watermelon instead of death-filled cigar.
