I know that taste is a personal thing, and I recently discovered a band that, while I enjoy their heavier brethren (black metal), it never occurred to me to look at the lighter end of the spectrum, and I must say...I'm really enjoying this particular band.
Ghost (BC) is a mashup of psychedelic rock mixed with the imagery and lyrical content of black metal. They're VERY bass heavy and bass driven, which is part of their appeal to me. I can't give a name to the bass player because of the band forbids it and wish to remain anonymous. The band is quoted as saying that they don't want anyone to know who they really are. Only the important people know their true identities. The backing band are collectively known as the "Nameless Ghouls" and are only known as an element, while their lead singer is known as Papa Emeritus. As a whole, they kind of represent an "Anti-Catholic Church"
From the little I know about the bass player, he only plays Fender Jazz's and Precision's, or at least that's all I've seen him play in music videos and concert footage. Whatever the case though, the man has tone for days! Best part of it is, his tone is generally pretty clean (I've listened to the bulk of their two albums already).
Here's the song that I first listened to:
