Okay, maybe not "punk" these days.. but whatabout Longview from greenday.. one of my faves to test out a P bass.

Yes, I guess theres drums too..but still.

Not necessarily bass solos and basslines
But intros

Some exceptions (London Calling and California Uber Alles) are there, but the bass is the highlight of the opening moments.

I don’t want to inadvertently start any kind of fundamentalist quibblefest over what is ‘punk’, what is ‘new wave’, where the mod revival fits in, post-punk, blah blah blah; all I know is, as I was in on it from the beginning, everyone I’m about to mention was part of the overall explosion, there were so many things going on, it was all good. And all equally hated by the Nugent, Boston, and Styx loving heshers of the time. And Fleetwood Mac* fans...

Stellar choices all, as someone who grew up during this period I have an affection for punk and new wave bass. I keep going back to it and drawing inspiration.
