That's another good one! I love his tone too!

Actually its a 800RB and Ampeg 810E Cab
They have an Ampeg B2RE at my local music shop that I tested out and liked the sound of, but it was through an Ampeg cab that I wouldn't be able to afford. Any suggestions for suitable cabs?
What can you afford? I see Ampeg SVT410HLF cabs on my local Craigslist selling for around $400.
Well my budget is around £700-800, which doesn't go that far as UK prices are much higher than that of the USA.
Both Dirnt and Freeman are on the Fender payroll now though. Trouble with Fender is that's it's so damn pricey... Like pricier than Mesa.
Punk rock, two 212s, or a 610.I'm looking for some suggestions as to good heads/cabs for getting the bright modern punk tone. It would need to be loud enough to play to around 250-400 people.
Strap has to be at minimum 72". From there everything is optional.

Strange. Here in Australia, still, over 10 yrs later, Fender is about on par with Ampeg. Mesa is unobtainium, in my world. Both Dirnt and Freeman are on the Fender payroll now though. Trouble with Fender is that's it's so damn pricey... Like pricier than Mesa.

Few years back, around the time this thread was started.....I bought a Fender Super Bassman instead of a SVT-VR coz it was a good deal cheaper (& lighter ) ..... absolutely no regrets with that choice too.
Back on topic, Mike Dirnt uses a Super Bassman as he's endorsed by Fender... seems to work tho. If that's what we hear live...????
