PUP Shoot Out

Any thoughts on PUP- Seymour Duncan Weather Report Jazz Bass Set vs Aguilar AG 4J HC.
True single coil Seymour Duncan custom shop vs. production Aguilar (or is it Korg now? ;) ) hum canceling isn't really a fair fight. The Aggies might sound good, but the CS Duncans are gonna sound great! But, the Duncans aren't hum canceling.
Are they better than the existing oem from my 95 Jazz?
IMHO, yes!

Hum canceling (Jazz Bass pickups) can sound really good, and could provide a tone that you're perfectly happy with. I'm currently using Dimarzio Model J pickups, and they're giving me just what I want. However, hum canceling pickups typically lose a little "character", most notably in the high end, that true single coil pickups provide.

I like that "burpy" kinda sound, like your finger is plucking a balloon. Either one work for that? Or is most of it in the finger plucking. I'm getting there. Just got my new rig, an Aguilar TH 500 and a used SL 112 and it sounds good even at a low volume here in the house.
