Pure Caffeine Powder...to be regulated?

If it's illegal and dumb kids or dumb adults want to do it, they will. The illegality of marijuana and cocaine didn't stop me and my dumb friends from doing it when I was a dumb kid. And you really don't have to work that hard to die from alcohol. I've known a few people that managed to kill themselves in one night with booze.
I'm not making an argument that liquor should be illegal. I don't think any of it should be. It's a waste of time and resources to enforce these laws. The substances are out there. People will do them if they choose to. Illegality doesn't change free will.
To be clear, I'm not saying people should do drugs. Drugs are bad...mmmkay? But I'm all for choice. And choices have consequences. No denying it. Stupid people do stupid things on drugs and bad things can happen.

For the last time, IT'S TOO DANGEROUS. Choice? OK, let's hand out loaded guns and hand grenades to all the dumb kids while we're at it, and hope nothing bad happens. When it does, we'll just laugh and call it Darwinism. As hard as it may be to accept, people really do require a certain amount of protection from really bad things. This drug in this form is simply lethal.
Bulk it out to a 1 in 500 ratio (yay, more bulking agents) and some idiot would still manage to kill themselves.

There's no need to yell. There's a big difference between the danger of drugs and the danger of grenades.
How many people have been killed by caffeine overdoses - when using pure caffeine powder? (legit question, and I can't find an answer)
It doesn't seem to be many people, heck, energy drinks/sweets seem to be a bigger killer, the caffeine is heavily diluted (in comparison) in those products. I don't think the ability to buy pure caffeine is all the new either.

I don't know, but I bet the answer is less people than have died from DXM overdoses from over the counter Robitussin.
I think good parenting is more effective at dissuading kids from doing drugs than government regulations.

Couldn't say. I wasn't spanked and I don't have kids, but spanking just seems creepy to me.
People snort all kinds of stuff they should avoid- why would they NOT snort caffeine in powder form?
It's possible to have heart palpitations from too many caffeinated drinks- I see no reason this stuff won't kill more before it's banned.
People are too willing to ingest new substances in their effort to feel different sensations and that will be their downfall.
It isn't a new substance, it isn't new that it's available in powder form and as far as I'm aware it's mainly used as a sports supplement.

I have worked with it before as a pharmacist. It's typically used for premature babies. Due to their size, there's a lot of caution that must be used.
For adults, it's still possible to overdose if the math is wrong. A good amount of adults have underlying cardiac risk factors.
The general public does not need access to pure caffeine powder.
