Purpleheart/Maple Guitar Build..

Got called into work yesterday which messed up my plans for working on the guitar, but I got about an hour today to cut out and final sand the template for the body. The outline for the chambering is drawn on the template but not yet cut out.

Maybe I'll make the area that is chambered into a Secret Stash Spot for.. car keys.. yeah.

That is going to be killer, what kind of bridge and pickups are you going to throw in that?

I have a nice kahler bridge laying around, either that or a Floyd rose. My guitarist loves dimebag and wants a single dimebucker, but I hear that Bill Lawrence? not seymore duncan, makes the real one? I may just wind my own humbucker for it.

I was reading up on the 500XL, and there was a disclaimer on one of the websites selling the pickup saying..

"These products are the Original Bill Lawrence pickups made and endorsed
by the founder of the 1965 Bill Lawrence guitar pickup company, Jzchak
Wajcman. He is also the sole legal owner of the trademark "Bill
Lawrence" for use on musical products and the exclusive source for
manufacturing of all Bill Lawrence products. Jzchak Wajcman D.B.A. Bill
Lawrence USA is not associated with the designer Bill Lawrence since
1984."

Do I get the 500XL from these guys? Or should I be looking for a 500XL made by the real Bill Lawrence?

What's good about the 81-tw is, it's the same as an original 81, but you can use it as a single coil too and it's equipped with 2 pre's, as opposed to say the 89, which in a simpler way is 2 Sa's combined, with one pre. I used an 81-tw and an 89 in my last guitar. An awesome combo, for sure.

Got a lot done, glued up both body cores, glued up the walnut/maple neck (but the pictures are boring..), and went out and got a better top for this purpleheart/maple build...

At first I had that ghetto, plain looking flamed maple top, but I decided that I needed something more interesting..

So I found this shop about 30 minutes from my house that sells exotic woods, and I ended up stopping by and leaving with a Spalted Alder top for it, pic below, I should have wiped some naptha over it before the picture to do it justice, but I forgot..

Also, this place sells insane ammounts of cocobolo, I bought a board and resawed it into 4 fretboards, pic included. A cocobolo fretboard won't be on this build, but I had to show off..

I have the next 3 days off so it will be coming along nicely soon..
