Push/Pull for Tone/Bypass

The preamp may or may not have had it's own coloration that boosted the treble some, but you're running a high impedance output now, when it was low before. The capacitance of your cable can suck out some treble.

You must have wired something up wrong. Did you remove the preamp? What kind of preamp was it? In the original setup, was the blend control before the preamp?

How did you wire up the bass cut control? Also, what kind of pickups are they?

Yes. It was unlabeled. It's a Brice, I don't know what they use.

In the original setup, was the blend control before the preamp?

Not sure, but it worked in both active and passive mode.

How did you wire up the bass cut control?

I have the bass cut completely out of the circuit right now.

Also, what kind of pickups are they?

No idea. Soapbar something.

I did tons of research here to make sure I got the right tapers. Audio for the volume and linear for the tones.
And it was exactly wrong. I had to switch the linear to the volume and the audio to the tones. I'm still not sure if audio is right for the tone. The G&L diagram specs linear for everything.
I think it depends. Some swear by one, some by the other.
I wish I could help you pick the correct ones for sure. If your doing the wiring yourself I would get both and try it both ways, pots aren't that expensive.

Electric, my bass cut experiment has been a bust.
I tried to follow the G&L L-1000 diagram and leave out some parts, but it's not working.
At one point I had something like a bass cut and a treble cut, but something was pulling out a lot of treble even when both pots were full on (ergo, this thread).
I think that some of the caps/resistors that I don't have are necessary for it to function properly.
I hope you have more success, I just wanted to let you know that my method doesn't seem to work and it may take some doing on your part to get it. Or maybe you just have to follow the G&L diagram to the letter.

Yeah, I was thinking of a jazz-specific schematic if anybody has one... I got bored and put a 0.22 (or 0.022?) uf cap in series with my cable, no bass-cut, just a barely audible signal :atoz:

I'm stumped :confused:
