Pushing a head too hard?

I was once talking to the repair/parts department at the company that made my 500 watt amp. When I asked how much it would really deliver if all the knobs were at 10 he said "well the man who designed it is sitting right here - I'll ask him." A moment later he gave me my answer: 1300 watts
Who believes it?

If this story was really true, this amp was (for sure) a real true cab killer amplifier, cause the amp would push out way more powerfull transient peaking than rated.

Call or write to GK in California and ask to speak with Mr Robert Gallien. Give him your concerns and he will give you a good honest reply. He's the guy I am quoting. Amp is the GK550 tube two channel - the heavy one. He will know which one. He designed it, he builds it, and his name is on it.

No idea man... Markbass little Marcus 1000 limited edition.

Says total is 1200 and 1000 RMS.

Went from a markbass little mark iii and noticeable difference, but main reason was it was the last one on thomann and got it for 1/3 the price lol

The fact it has the footswitch with the lovely parametric EQ on channel 2 and I can have all channels on/off + with my onboard johneast preamp I have a world of tones available to me quickly.
Did you realize that your post that makes clear that you don't have Behringer Watts or Bugera oder Peak Watts didn't receive any like?
Sometimes TB seems to be a little bit strange at some point...

I have got a couple of GK service manuals.
In each of them the listed procedure to measure the max. ouput power is just the same.
If any, in any chance, then there was rather a little of Watts missing than "too many" of it.
In short words, the power rating meets with good accuracy the number of power that can be measured as max. output power, no more, and nor less.

There is no reason to tell pointless "myths" about GK amplifiers

edit:
ok, I could call GK in California and tell them:
hey man, all your service manuals and testing procedures seem to be totally wrong and misleading...

I don’t believe it either. Bob’s way to smart to provide that answer imo.

Lol I'm in an acdc tribute... Hence things being loud at times. But yeah booked in for hearing test, specialist ear protection and even a tinnitus specialist. Hopefully I get good news in a few weeks!
Take care of yr hearing and GET THOSE guitarists to put their 412 cand up on a crate or angle em back to point at their ears.
(I reckon most of their noise is blowing past their thighs)
They'll turn down then I'd reckon

If the rhythm guitarist at times doesn't even realise he's left his lead channel on theres no hope lol

And I share that spot with him on the stage... We don't do the typical acdc setup as I don't sing so lead needs room for that + running around.

Frees me up to run around like a Gobshite also and give the singer a bit of a break.. which I quite enjoy :)

That's what I do too! Love running around the stage (and sometimes into the audience.)

Lol yeah one time we played this small pub gig in Donegal... Stage + dancefloor and then seating all around but it had spots to the side of the stage you could hide or get access to the back of the room lol so I went off to the side, snook around the back and the creeped up on people sitting at the tables slowly putting my bass on the table and then jumping out and scaring the crap out of them lol. Silly stuff like that. But if the stage is large I'm afraid of jumping off and not being able to get back up haha
