Putting together a parts P

We just got a Lowes here in Vancouver a year ago. Well, New Westminster. It's in the most awkward location.

Anyway, a bag of 24 stainless steel pick guard screws on ebay is $6. In the overall scheme of this build, $6 isn't a horrible amount (I'm Canadian and used to paying a tonne of money for things) and then I'll have some spares.

You can get 100 screw for less than ebay through McMaster Carr. 316 stainless #4 x 1/2"

Too bad about the backorder, I was hoping for a more exciting update. I have a set of Geezer pups at home waiting to be installed. I'm in Vancouver too and ordered direct from Best Bass Gear. No back order there but props to you for supporting the local vendor I guess. I ordered pups from L&M before and ended up waiting six or eight weeks or some BS so I don't go that route anymore personally.

I considered a different source, but I'm not in a hurry (this is supposed to be an exercise in patience for me... we'll see about that) to complete the bass, but I do want to get to work on it. L&M, with the free shipping, was probably the best price I was going to get outside of finding a used set somewhere. Now that you've said that, I'm sure it'll be about that before I get them. I usually just go to the L&M by my work, but I thought I'd order them online to see how that goes. Coming from Ontario. So, if they are back-ordered, probably California to Ontario to BC. Supply chain management is something else. :wacky:

I just copied the jazz with the tele headstock. I put fender split coil's and my neck is an allparts. The bridge pickup didn't fit in the route so I had to make it bigger and ended up cracking some finish other than that not so much of a nightmare. I think yours is going to look cooler though, kinda wish I did a P

It's obviously going to be a departure from Matt Sharp's actual bass in that this is P and not a Jazz, but it's more like "inspired by" and less "that's the exact thing I'm going for". Last night the brass/chrome bridge (it is heavy), neck plate, and string retainer arrived. The pick-up is being obsessively tracked and in transit right now - should be here this week - so I can assemble the body this weekend. I'm thinking of using a small hand drill to make the pick guard pilot holes.

Anyway, here's an updated shot of the parts:
