I use TSB in Point Roberts for US shipments http://tsbshipping.com/ but for $30 extra on 400 I'd have it shipped to Van as well.

Never want to skimp on the neck. If you you go over budget on one thing, it should be that.
I agree with this 100% If you skimp on the neck and end up with something that doesn't live up to your expectations, you will never be happy with the final product. I've done it many times, and I always end up throwing more money away when I have to buy another neck. Spend the extra $100 now and enjoy your bass the way it was meant to be. If you don't buy the neck you want, you'll just end up buying it later.

Just realized after updating the budget on the original post that aside from strings, everything is bought. Waiting on the neck and tuners to arrive (both paid for and on order).
I'm at 2ish months, splitting 7 paychecks to fund this project. It's actually happening faster than I thought it could thanks to selling some extra gear. I know the hard part is still to come; you know, assembling the thing and setting it up, but I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. It makes me excited to do it again (maybe).

4 inline vintage-style chrome Grovers showed up today. Strings, too. Just waiting for the neck now. Waiting so hard.
Waiting IS hard. I am right there with you. My neck and body should be here within a week or so. Waiting has be GASing for another bass but I know once they come in I can drill a few holes, solder, setup and I will have my dream jazz bass in my hands.

Yes..definitely worth it to get a post box in Blaine...I just completed a US Deluxe Jazz mostly built from stuff bought right here in the TB classifieds...Having the PO box definitely saved me a substantial amount.
The second I saw that I really liked liked it. I didn't want an "all black" Ebony board (which was an option) and I was hoping there'd be some natural streaking in it. That streak looks friggin' awesome.

That was one of my main aesthetic choices. I love that headstock and it's different from all the other Fenders out there. I wanted something people might look at and question "what is that?"
