PYPB 44: ...like Tetris with boxes, wires and cables

Tuner Octaver Dirt half of board. Took me a while to get this together. Scored the Mr. Black OD in 17 minutes on Reverb. The bare case is a Frantone Cream Puff Clone. I'd like to paint it or have it painted.

So now it's on to the chorus, phaser, reverb. Tempted to go multieffects

I am totally digging it. And the gate is sick. Tonally, it's a little darker than the ODB, but a little more transparent. It also has a little more gain on tap. I like both pedals... two different flavors of the OCD circuit; and I can see keeping both pedals on my board - cause running the gated circuit into my envelope filter makes for most excellent synth.

Edit... I just did a four way shoot out for which four pedals stay on the board out of the Pharaoh, Demon, ODB, Wizard, and VT... the Pharaoh got voted off the board. The Pharaoh is also an awesome dirt pedal... it will make someone happy.

out of curiosity and also trying to use as many pedals as I can but keeping the board as light as possible.....lol...how heavy is your new board with pedals? Thinking of getting the same but need to know if I can carry it without destroying my old/ailing back....much appreciated if you could weigh it for me because it's between buying a new board or just getting more pedals....lol

That's one of the reasons I want a new board I have the pedaltrain with the hard case which is quite heavy.. I ordered a new board now with a soft case. (and more real estate)

I love this board.

My essentials at this point are the exact same thing as what you've got here - Tuner, Octave, versatile OD/dirt pedal, filter and compressor.

And I really dig your choices. I love all of those pedals. I've had two versions of the Beta but not the Dlx but I've owned all the others. Great stuff.

One question, do you find that running the compressor upstream of the filter hurts your dynamics in terms of getting the filter to open when you want? I've tried it both ways and always preferred the compressor after the filter.

I have tried both ways around and prefer this order, but I do have a pretty low compression setting on the Diamond, I also have it set at unity volume so can flick it off and go direct to the filter for a different sound.
But I do find it sings more if I have the compression in front.
Maybe the filter then is not compressed on output?

That makes sense. And the Diamond has a fixed ratio that is pretty low (I think 3:1) so it's never going to be an extreme squash.

Also the DiscumBOBulator is a pretty smooth filter - it doesn't put out the big volume spikes that require a limiter downstream like the mini Q-tron etc.
