PYPB 44: ...like Tetris with boxes, wires and cables

Well here I have the latest version of my board. So far working out well. Still trying out different distortions or fuzzes in the octave up loop. This week was a SL Drive, last week was the EHX muff. Next week who knows? Trying to get rid of the natural organ overtone from the pitchfork.

Two MBD-1's? (I just learned about this pedal today.)

Yes! I was using other pedals for low gain overdrive, however I really like how the MBD sounds. So instead of fighting it, just go with it. So currently I have 1 for low gain and 1 for the next level of distortion.
The last 12 hours 3 TBers are singing this pedal's praises, the universe is trying to tell me something.

Still, the best pedal for metal is remains the Valnøtt.

let me be the fourth! It's a great pedal. I have mine set up for a light, always on OD and it rocks!

That's what I'm looking for, a very light overdrive, warm-ish sound (warmer than Darkglass, nothing wrong with Darkglass stuff), high Q low mid bump.

The COG Mini 66 is also on my radar. Also I'm considering an "industry standard" TS9 or TS808 to get the drive that I'm after, since I want a tubescreamer for my guitar also. Maybe that JHS pedal with all the tubescreamer variations would be something to look into for me.

I was also looking into this for a bit more high gain OD. Only most TS versions will take away quite some low end.

Right now I'm looking at the
Way Huge Green Rhino
Earthquaker Plumes
Amptweaker Tight Drive
Voodoo Labs Sparke Drive
Fairfield Barbershop

Apparently all based on the TS, and also apparently all better at retaining the low end

Not TS related, but another OD I'm drooling over right now (for bass and guitar) is the Hudson Electronics Broadcast

Not sure how you're using your pitchfork but the tones you're describing are the reason I sent mine back. I was bummed to lose the expression function but I found the OC5s octaves to be much more musical sounding. Might be worth checking out.
So I am using the pitchfork as a octave up separate loop, with the sl drive and eq. To get a fuller tone when needed, during guitar solos etc. the rest of the board is in loop b on the boss loop station. Loop a is controlled on and off with the jhs a/b box. The only issue is the sound has an organ overtone so if the oc-5 doesn't get that organ octave tone then maybe that will be the ticket. Never needed an excuse to try a new pedal. :)

My board overhaul of the last few months is starting to slow down as I think I found most of what I was looking for. Waiting on a mini Turbo tuner to replace the regular one I had. Finally cracked and bought EBS cables. Those things really are worth it for the space saving. I'm impressed.. I also decided to try to put every pedal I have on a board. I found that it makes me use my pedals a lot more when they're all ready to go instead of laying in their boxes and having to setup every time I want to play. Though I'll need to buy more power supplies..

The Asgard and Locust Star arrived this week. I like the Locust, it brings all the flavors of the Rat sound I wanted. I had planned to put it on the board with the whammy but it might earn spot on the main board. The Asgard is awesome also but will have to duke it out with the Megalith I got on the way for a long term spot.

There's Micro-Tron on the way for the Nano board and at some point I'd like to put a Southampton Utility Knife on there also. And if I can find where I put my old Boss DD-3, it will go on the whammy board.
