Nice board Vlad5! what's the lomenzo hyperdrive like compared to the darkglass b3k?
Thanks!
Actually both are very comparable.
Both do the high-midrangy drive/distortion thing very well.
The Hyperdrive is more versatile as a distortion, what with the variable Q setting for the distortion circuit.
But the B3K is more useful (for me anyway) as a drive effect since it does the full range gainy thing a little better; more low end available across most of it's settings.
The Hyperdrive will lose lowend when you crank up the gain/mix a lot, which I do.
I would consider the Hyperdrive to be a less expensive alternative to the B3K, as it can do the same basic effect.
But it's huge, and rehousing it (which I intend to do) will only reduce it's size by about 10%, if that (circuit board is huge too).
And the B3K is as mentioned, a bit more full range usable; more lowend available.
So I use both, since I like what both can do, which is basically the same thing with different parameters/control; mid range clangy drive/distortion.
The B3K is set low for overdrive, and the Hyperdrive is set high for distortion.
Combining the two makes for some interesting mid-scooped-yet-chimy distortion.
