PYPB 44: ...like Tetris with boxes, wires and cables

Funny you should mention it! Wholly without intending to, I must have willed a pedal sale into existence; found the PERFECT fit both in terms of size and tone on my local Kijiji late last night. One of those can't-pass-up-the-deal types, despite wanting to prioritize other stuff!

The Spectrum was on my list, as was the Josh Wah (perhaps too large), and the Fwonkbeta. But despite being a bit of an odd duck, I wanted a Seamoon Funk Machine. Not really a super versatile filter, but the sound it *does* do covers easily 90% of the material I need it to, and the rest I can definitely get close enough to. Very MuTron-ish, thick, analogue, and percussive. I know I'm honeymooning, but dang this thing is a fatty. Pairs brilliantly with my OD and octave, too.

Will admit, you've caught me off-guard; no pics yet since I wasn't remotely anticipating this purchase (so, like, did it even happen??)!

I wish I could say I was 100% on this setup. For the most part I'm pretty happy with these pedal choices, but I have some logistical issues with this board.

Unfortunately that Warwick Rockboard interface seems to be total garbage. All I get is noise when I plug in and out of it. If I just plug straight into the pedals everything is super quiet.

.....Except for the Strymon Volante. I am trying to figure out a popping issue and it not working in some venues. Usually at my house it is fine, playing at church or another friend's house and the issue comes up. So frustrating!

I'm sure I will get around to posting the 2020 pedalboard update about this time next year. Cheers Everybody!

Hey. Sorry, it's been a million internet years since. Any update on the Rockboard Mod Noise so far ? Still using it ? Have you tried the newer versions of it ? Thanks

Rare real new pedal day, when I make a change it's usual among stuff I already own, but just in today: Broughton Audio HPF, 1st in chain after wireless.

Got it set around 40hz for now, but I'll try different settings and pedal placements later today. A quick testing in this spot during lunch hour came out positive, felt its impact right away. Real test comes Saturday at band rehearsal in our usual rehearsal studio space.

Chain goes: BASS > G30 > HPF > TU-2 > Comp > VT > Chorus > MS60B > GEB-7 > LS-2 > AMP/console

I am in disbelief...I mean, theoretically, I knew it should work and my tests all proved it out...
but now after getting the final MIDI cables, wiring it up and verifying is just so satisfying.

That gap will be filled within the week when my CBA Gen Loss MkII arrives. I sent it back to Chase Bliss for the bass response mod.
Next step is the fun part, programming wild patches that leverage the insane MIDI pulsing throughout this chain.

went all out and added in a One Control pedalboard patch bay for in, out, send/return (in the ML10 chain so that send/return loop can be moved almost anywhere in the chain!) and MIDI. I'm using it as MIDI out so that I can program the MC8 to have patches that feed MIDI anywhere in my entire setup. I'm really excited about this to program some patches for my Beebo...especially with Beebo's incredible Loopler module.

This is also one of my cleanest wiring jobs of all time. I've already had to do rats nest surgery a few times and it's surprisingly easy to troubleshoot and as a result of a lot of my troubleshooting, a lot of the cables are now labelled making things even easier to navigate.

close up of this half shows the one control pedal patchbay and main DC7 that runs at about 70% of capacity to power this monster. Meris MIDI controlling the Hedra (MC8 controls the Gen Loss and Tensor) and you can also see the ML10.

other half shows the ML10 and the MIDI solutions Quadra Thru I'm using to split the signal to have an out the one control patch bay and then send along my chain. For the Moog Sirin, I needed to merge the note data from the unisyn with the program data, so I sent the note data into the MC8 and then that feeds through the entire chain to drive the Moog and I can use the MC8 to merge in preset changes and param changes.

This board is rad. I am so fricken happy!!! I have to really dig in on the HX stomp too and unlock magic, for now it is only set up for basic reverb and delay duties.

Continues to be pretty utilitarian, but the ODR and the Spark give me some dirt varieties and the M5 is fun for octave, chorus, some reverb-y pads. I think my two latest big "take-aways" in pedal-boarding are:

1: What a difference a decent, quality power supply makes----was using a cheaper box and was getting all kinds of noise with the M5 and the Drop both running from it. Just got the CS12 and, although largish in form, it's function is brilliant!! The whole board is dead quiet now.

2: Picked up this NYC Pedalboards unit a few months back. Am LOVING it!! What a great piece of kit!!

Nice board. I have been using the Drop for 18/20 months now. Our band tunes a half step down. This pedal made that a breeze. I will just say I watched a YouTube video before I purchased it. Not sure from who. But they said the Drop had to be the first pedal in the signal chain for it to function best. So that's where I have kept it. Just passing along info, not judging. lol

The Explorer and the Phaser III are very different animals in my experience, with the Phaser III being more subtle than the Explorer. The Explorer has a lot more options for setting the wave forms (including a manual setting for adjusting the range). I'm using the Explorer in my Doomtronica band like a tremolo and the Phaser III in my roots band or subtle phasing.
