PYPB 44: ...like Tetris with boxes, wires and cables

Bought a Fuzzrocious Lil Fella and a Kuro t120 in the past weeks. The Lil Fella is awesome, and can be any drive you want it to be. I received the Kuro a few days ago, so I have yet to play with it in a band, but the first impressions are good, it can really make your bass growl.

It seems like just yesterday I was posting in this thread about how happy I was with my board and how I didn't see anything changing for a long time. Well, a new gig necessitates a variety of tones and a full MIDI setup. I'm very much enjoying the versatility as not only does this board serve as the basis for my tone, but works perfectly fine for guitar and as the centerpiece of a home recording rig.

I'm continuing to change things up a little. I've decided to go back to having one board for two bands. This board base been my psychedelic board and the smaller board was for other more traditional musical settings, smaller = easier to schlepp and fewer negative comments from guitar players. But I've achieved really good base tone with the three Origin pedals I'm using and I want that for all my bands. So, this is not that many pedals… not bad to schlepp and well, you know, efff the guitar players.

oh, things like a bass player shouldn't have more pedals that a guitar player. It's been a while, but its been suggested to me to leave the pedal board at home. I play in two bands now, one a psychedelic space rock band (these guys love my board) and a roots/funk band, who think I'm the schizz. So, I think its back to one board and release some excess pedals into the wild.

I've never been told to leave the pedalboard at home, but I've received plenty of raised eyebrows and comments about bringing a board. And about its size. I think a lot of folks have a very limited view of what bass is and what its role should be.

I think you're talking about the recorder? That's a Tascam Portacapture 6. I'm actually uploading the recordings right now. I really like it so far. I used the built-in stereo mic and also an Aston Spirit condensor mic on a separate track for a total of three tracks. It provided the necessary phantom power for the Aston.

Oh nice, I was wondering if it was something like that I've been thinking of going a route like that for my simple recordings that I do. I was thinking of one of those Roland Go Pro or whatever it's called, but I think that's a little different unit.

If you're not going direct and are trying to record a group live, I'd definitely recommend the Tascam or a Zoom or Yamaha hand-held, especially one that can provide phantom power.

The ego of a guitar player is a very fragile thing.
Next time, keep in mind your guitarist Friendly board has [(number of pedals your guitarist use)-1] pedals

I just used a countersink bit with some skirt head screws.
