I don't have this problem with the straight TRS jacks, and those are identical sans screws for strain relief.
Also, if you have heat shrink on a piece after soldering one side and something goes wrong, you cut that off and no longer have heat shrink. I also learned how not to maintain an iron. Couple of fundamental misunderstandings.
I have an electronic jam that should be recorded where I'll be doing bass and synth and probably some guitar, and I'd like to bring my board, but things are far from reliable. Work in progress:
