How's the Alma vs the cali? Looks like you could fit that oc-2 on board if you had the new smaller oracle (runs and hides)

I don't have this problem with the straight TRS jacks, and those are identical sans screws for strain relief.
Also, if you have heat shrink on a piece after soldering one side and something goes wrong, you cut that off and no longer have heat shrink. I also learned how not to maintain an iron. Couple of fundamental misunderstandings.
I have an electronic jam that should be recorded where I'll be doing bass and synth and probably some guitar, and I'd like to bring my board, but things are far from reliable. Work in progress:

I am not familiar with making insert/Y cables with SPS7s but the normal TS-TRS Squareplugs don't need heat shrink if you are using the right cable (and especially the right diameter cable). You need to make sure the outer insulation goes into the plug past the strain relief screws, so that screws can bite into the outer insulation. In fact I would could so far as to say using heat shrink could be a detriment causing the cable to be less flexible and perhaps causing stress to happen.
Here's a picture from a Squareplug reseller of the SPS7 showing no heat shrink. I am curious about strain relief for these. It's just solder and friction (!!) I guess which would make using the right cable super important.
Sadly the cable compatibility chart is missing from the Squareplug site. Redco says Mogami W2947, W2528 or Gotham GAC-2prFlat for SPS7.
My boards are all SPS4 with some SP400s, Mogami W2314 wire (which is super flexible). I abuse the heck out of them like butting SPS4s right up against another pedal so the cable has to 180. No issues at all.
I soldered up a couple cables with SPS4 plugs (BTPA cable) and they seem fine with the screws holding the cable. I've yanked on them and never had an issue.
Some of the first patch cables I bought were pancake plugs with at least an inch of shrink wrap and those are the ones I've had a couple go bad. The flexibility is greatly decreased with that on (making it difficult to use on a tight board), and didn't seem to work at saving the cable. Seems backwards but what do I know.

I like them both. The Alma is just easy, though. I had a Diamond a while back and loved it, and the Alma pairs that sound with the parallel compression I first encountered on the Cali76CB. I'm all about easy to dial in, except with the filter.
And yeah, a smaller Oracle is in the offing, but for now I've got my OC-2 and a looper set up on an aux board for jamming hip hop stuff with my wife. This Metro 16 is the classic band's gig board.

Made a few changes recently to the main board...and also built a dedicated travel board instead of having to pull stuff off my main board when I have a gig overseas or somewhere I don't want to lug the big board. Played through the travel board last weekend to get a feel for it - and I swear I almost liked it better than my main one (but of course without the extra effects - it's just a clean tone board). I love my Oracle...but I'm amazed how close you can get with the Humboldt into the Linden and Grizzly.
MERBL is a Lovetone Meatball clone my wife made for me. It beat out a 3Leaf Chromatron and an Iron Ether Xerograph Deluxe, if that means anything. Of course part of it is sentimental value but the sound is incredible and it's the big box filter for me.
Stereo/reamp board is just waiting on the Poly Verbs to show up. Hopefully this month.
Well, I've done it. I sold my soul. And some of my pedals. But, regardless of it still being the honeymoon, I am in love. The HX Stomp XL is getting listed as soon as my guitar player is done running through it.
I've never been fully satisfied with a multi effect. The Line6 is a formidable piece of kit- but I wouldn't ever use it on its own without some auxiliary dirt. As a matter of fact, I have never had a board without dirt on it. I have had boards with nothing but dirt when I had a rackmount tuner on my monster rig.
This thing, though...
There are things it can't do, but I've captured some great pedals already and I have a lot more to go. This is the biggest game changer in my long effects journey.
I still have all of my Broughtons (except the L+HPF, which is covered by the Messenger Jr. ) and my ridiculously complicated Source Audio board. I'm keeping the MBD and the Spite Box. I'm keeping a lot of pedals I most definitely don't need but love. And there will always be more. But as far as me collecting... man... I don't know anymore.
