Hahhah ahahah hahahha hahaha ahhaha ahhahah aa ahaha ahah aa hahaa hahahahaha ahaha aha aha ha!!!!,... uh...ha, ha, ... heh, heh....

oh my... (wipes tears from his eyes)...

Seriously guys (I use this term for gals too, btw), f***ing sweet board set ups here, the big and the little! Clearly we all want to create something new and interesting, not reproduce what others 'expect' a bass to sound like. To quote my avatar, "We are the dream makers, and we are the dreamers of the dream". (yeah, I'm sure he was quoting someone else, still rings true!)

[rant]
Music is more about creative audio expression than wrote regurgitation. I wish others would vomit their negative opinions during their 'we clean bassists are so under appreciated' group therapy sessions and leave the rest of us out of it.

The 'I don't use effects because I want my bass to sound the way a bass is supposed to' is tantamount to stuffed shirt 'pro' players telling me I should ditch my Thumb and get a P-Bass to be considered a real bass player. Yeah fella, tell that to Ryan Martinie and I hope he punches you in nose with a copy of his interview in Bass Player Magazine...

Wankers... Makes me wonder what their sex life is like... "no honey, I must always be on top because that is how a man is supposed to make love". Sad really... :rollno:

Anyhoo....

Here is my board again for the new thread.... TAFM is off to Brian H for a gate footswitch.... Yay for me!!! :hyper:

This post is pretty much perfect in every conceivable way. I laughed and laughed. Nice board.

heh heh, thanks C. I try to keep my rants informative, or at least amusing. I think its healthy... :)

On a personal note; I was on my way to trolling the web, looking for free 'adult human' porn when I stopped by this thread. I got so distracted with all the awesome 'pedal board' porn that I completely lost interest in attending to my shameless manly needs... Kudos everyone! You've kept me from going blind and growing hair on my palms one more day!

Though my GAS is as painful as ever...

First page, is that even possible? I told you guys I wasn't changing anything. Here's the proof...

This just gave me a crazy idea... I get complaints sometimes of the light in my PWB blinding some folks every time I move the treadle (I say maybe you gotta detached retina or something??). I should put up some kind of enclosure around my board like this. Awesome...

empty post is empty. FlymO - where's them goods?

the rest of yous - i can not BELIEVE you went off topic in this thread so much that it's already on page 2.3333_ already. i am offended and deeply hurt. BUTT hurt even.

...... I'm Being So Sincere Right Now.

If each pedal adds a tiny bit of noise, which they have to, don't all of them added up equal a lot of noise? If you plug your bass direct into the amp then listen, then plug through the board and listen again. You're telling me there is no difference?

are you honestly curious or trolling for some negative responses? not asking to be a douche, just that happens a fair bit in the efx forum. and it's SILLY.

since i use a preamp at the end of my chain that wouldn't work. my board IS my amp. but if i have my bass plugged in through the entire chain of efx and nothing's clicked on it's silent. maybe it would sound a bit different if i plugged "straight into an amp", but who ****ing cares? i have my setup where i LOVE the clean tone i get. as much as i like all the various modulations and derty, make children weep, tones available.

and who said each pedal has to add a tiny bit of noise? mine don't. not when setup properly.

There is a difference for me when I plug straight into different heads so your question can't really be answered. For me, there is a little bit of noise if my bass volume is down but compared to the guitarists... There is none.

There may be a small amount of noise but all I can hear is the fan in my amp head. It's funny you asked about this because right before I read your post I was trying to hear if there was any excessive noise being produce by my board. There is some noise when I'm using dirt but I expect that's pretty normal.

Not trolling at all. Sorry you took it that way. I love effects but I keep them to a minimum because of all the noise and signal loss I hear. What's the point of having a great bass and pickups and amp if you can't hear them?

no offense taken. but i just think you're approaching it from a different mindset. i rokk a Dingwall AB I 6'er. i think most people would agree that's a pretty nice bass with nice pickups. i use a Rusty Box preamp into a power amp, and i don't know a single person tbat has spent time with a Rusty and said, "nope, not for me.". so i have good gear at the bass, pickups and amp stage.

i don't know what effects you have experience with, but the pedz in my chain DON'T introduce noise. so all the things that make me happy about my bass, pickups and amp shone through and make me ECSTATIC. because then i can crush them noise or blend them woth anger. and show how they can be used in different and interesting ways.
