Q tuner clip please

ive been looking at these pickups for a wile for a new bass i am building but ive only been able to find 2 sound clips of them and only 1 of the 2 was helpful because the one on their website is just a bunch of random harmonics. if its not to much to ask could i ask some people who have these pickups post sound clips

Yeah, it can be. I have a different fretless for doing that though. But I have a heard a fretted 6'er w/Q-Tuners slapped on many occasions. Sounded great, but in a smooth-jazz kind of way, since that's what my friend's gig is. What exactly are you looking to get out of this bass?

well its for a new bass im building it will be a single pickup no pre amp fretted 4 string. Im just looking at different pickups and these jumped out at me so far ive loved the sound that i have heard so far.

I'd probably get a pre-amp. I enjoy the tone, but I'd probably want a little more flexibility built in. Then again, I have enough basses that I shouldn't be worried about tonal flexibility.....but I still do.

I was thinking about putting new preamps into both my Q-Tuner basses after yanking the old ones, but after many months I still just haven't gotten around to it. Adjusting the three rows of hex-heads got me into my favorite neighborhood. There's a lot more than just using the same XOX per string; you can go from narrow aperture to wide on different strings ferinstance. Also you can choose which row to use for narrow aperture so it's easy to do a P config or reverse P config because of that.

Anyway, they're hugely revealing of hand and pick placement and techniques. And I use a programmable preamp (V-Bass) so I suppose I'll probably never get around to putting onboards into my basses.

I love the way mine work with the Bart NTMB preamp, but I am definitely not a fan of passive basses to begin with.

They sound great for slap with no need for a preamp. I go without one but rout the cavity large enough to retrofit one should all passive not suit you.

I'd think the NTMB pre would be a good pairing due to a nice degree of transparency when not in use and nice added warmth with the EQ engaged. Demeter would probably be another decent choice.
