Thought I would add my 2 cents. Recently I've gone back to my Walter Woods and an old EA VL 208. For some reason, I currently like the sounds and sound shaping better than anything else I've used in the last 5 or 6 years. There's plenty of bottom as well as very useable mids and highs. I don't know, in the end, it's really all in the hands and ears regardless of what amp you're using!

You really can't beat that combination, IME, IMHO. It's very midrange present. As John Dong from Euphonic Audio once told me, "it's a good match because the VL 208 is a dark sounding cabinet, and Walter Woods Amps are a little on the bright side. The combination yields you a natural sound. The TC 112 works even better and weighs 17 lbs. less. My hands and ears, and bass are the thing making the music, just as you said. The other stuff is just there to move that inspiration out among the masses. Our creativity comes from the musical soul.
