Quality or quantity?

I've had a mad desire to build my own from scratch ever since I first picked one up, so that's what I'd do; use the cash to buy quality components and a couple more tools to do the job right, and start the labor of love.

Here in Canada $2000 (so roughly $2300 Canadian) would fetch a new American Pro bass.

So it'd be like every other time I think that's really big mo ey to get something special. I find what would be worth spending such a huge chunk of change on and then realize it's way out of my budget.

I'd still go for good stuff but I'd be cheap about it, it's just my way.

I also don't buy used because selection and prices suck where I live. I'd rather spend the bit extra and get access to the whole internet worth of new gear.

At this point I'd have to go for novelty. I have quality. I have quantity.

Buying crap basses though is throwing money away. For me. I play them, go "meh," and then never touch them again until I sell them.
