Quarter pounders in my Jazz!

I'm soo happy with the tone and punch I'm getting from my SJB-3 quarter pounders! I fitted them into my Squier VM Fretless and its now an absolute tone machine! Bags of harmonics and growl with the neck pup rolled back, loads of thump with both full up.

I was very circumspect and did lots if snooping around before deciding on the QP's and the bass has never sounded better. I can't believe the difference.
A bit hummy off full, but that's totally normal for a jazz. Anyone considering these pups as an upgrade, get em in!!

QPs are imho the classic acitve EMG of the new millenium but with IN YOUR FACE tone.

they tend to make basses sound like QP-installed basses, despite wood/technology. But they sound frickin incredible and way more aggressive than most other pickups.

it's like if the musicman bass pickup design was used to make j and p pickups. the sound/effect is really similar.

This. With some EQ'ing, I can get quite a convincing MM tone out of my Samick P-copy with SPB-3.

Tell me more about the Badass bridge, can you adjust the string spacing? ..and is there really a noticeable tonal improvement? It's got a good rep, but I'm not convinced. Played a Nate Mendel precision recently with one on and it felt good, fair do's.

Absolutely! I recently bought a Jazz bass second hand, and it came with QPs. They have a strong low-mid drive that my other bass pickups lack. Big with a nice punch and presence.

Question for the QP people: how do I tell which QPs I have installed in my bass? Is there any markings on the backside etc? Seller just said they were Quater Pounders. Says "Basslines" and the poles look bigger than other pickups....similar to the picture above.

I didn't hear this bass before the upgrade so I can't really say what if any improvement there was due to the bridge. In fact, that's always been my experience with Badasses; I've never heard a before-and-after comparison. But they always seem to sound really good.

There is only one model of QP for each pickup type/position. If it's a jazz size in bridge position then that's the only thing it can be, likewise p style.

Yeah I think that's it visually; the big poles and 'basslines' logo. Other SD's have regular poles and 'seymore duncan' or no logo at all.

Love the big poles, might sand off the logo...

Why? You're raving about an incredible product from a leading after market (formerly boutique) pickup builder.... Support Seymour's business by proudly displaying his logo on his pickups!

What you're asking seems to me the equivalent of being embarrassed that your bass says Lakland instead of Fender. In other words, you've got it backwards. Be proud to display the label of a brilliant after market mod you praise online. Don't be embarrassed.
