Question for those with more knowledge than I.
A friend says that a quartersawn neck with "the line" going down the center is the best as it shows that the neck was made from a finely selected piece of wood and "the line" represents the center of the quarter.
Sounds good, but I say "the line" is simply where more sanding and shaping was applied.
Which statement is correct ?
Have seen the line off center, at the edge of the fretboard, and non-existent on quartersawn necks.
The pics below show "the line" dead center on a G&L SB-2.
Regardless of the answer, this is an excellent neck.
