Quater pounder single coil p pickup eb bass

I have a eb 3 bass. The output of the bridge humbucker is rather weak and I was wondering if replacing it with a single coil p would work. I measured the distance between the mounting screws and it seems about the same. Thoughts/ recommendations?

That would sound good but the hole in the bass body would not match the footprint of the pickup.

The current bridge pickup has a plastic mounting ring so I think it would fit on that just be space around the pickup
