Being able to set each one differently?![]()
I generally set the HPF to the limits of my speaker....how do you use it?

DB puts out a lot more fundamental than electric bass. And that increase in fundamental through piezo pickups means more boom. For DB, you set the high pass filter to remove boom. The frequency you set to remove boom is generally higher than what you would use for speaker protection.I generally set the HPF to the limits of my speaker....how do you use it?
Correct, it's much more difficult than it might seem. I haven't forgotten about you guys however...BTW, When I had a WA it didn't sound the same taking the line out into a class D power amp so maybe it's not as simple as one might think.

Good question actually. The HPF can be used in conjunction with overdrive to manage low mid build-up that can muddy the tone, and this changes with how much overdrive is used, along with the bass itself.
For us doublers, HPF settings are completely different between upright and electric basses. A global HPF is useless for us.

I've been reading some comments over the years concerning 2 channel amps and was wondering if player's tastes or needs have changed or if a second channel is still as useful as it was when we brought out the original GBE series (750 & 1200), followed up by the ShuttleMax? I'm wondering in the context of the Big Block which has global eq, and the Titan which is more like the GBE.
If 2 channels is important, how important is individual eq per channel, channel switching, channel mixing and other foot switched features?
I'm just trying to bring myself up to speed with your help, since I have been out of the 2 channel preamp market for a while and may have missed some of the evolving trends.
Early on in my DB playing, I wasn't familiar with HPFs. I used the amp EQ to remove boom, but found it was a balance between removing boom and sacrificing low end. Then I read the reviews on the FDECK HPF. I figured, why not try it, that's not much money. Glad I did. It makes a big difference. It's much easier to remove boom without affecting tone. I agree with you about the parametric and notch filters.I played upright bass in concert bands and big bands for over 20 years and never needed an HPF. But my amps were always lifted above my waist to minimize the amount of energy the speaker pushed directly into the instrument's body.
If you are referring to the Contour section, IIRC from the short time I owned a HA3500 those are just typical bass and treble tone controls; Larry just named then something other than what they really are. With one channel setup for hpf, the other for lpf? And a sweepable crossover for both? If I'm not mistaken, that is essentially a bi-amp arrangement:

How about the ability to adjust the volume of ANY guitar amp that is way out of line?
800 Watt Walkabout: I've learned to accept the things I can not change....
