I have a Kustom Groovebass 210c combo, with a 600 watt head. It has 2 10" speakers. If I get, say, a Kustom 4X10 or 1X15 extension cab, what will this do? More volume? Better tone?

Question about adding an extension cab

It will move a lot more air and thats a good thing. What is the 210s ohmage because that matters if you want more power coming through the speakers.

I am assuming I need an extension cab that can handle that configuration, right?

if your combo is already 2ohms your out of luck.
the amp should have a thing under the extension cab output saying "EXTENSION OUTPUT #OHMS MINIMUM" (#=whatever it says)

as far as I understand from the owners manual, the amp can run at a minimum of 3 ohms. producing 600w@5% distortion 
. The manual does not say what the ohms load on the internal speakers are. I assume it would be 4 ohms. but I could be wrong.
if you can find out what the "load" of the internal speakers are and they are a total load is above, say, 4 ohms you could add an 8 ohm cab safetly.
maybe someone can chime in with how to measure speaker loads with an ohm meter. if I remember right an 8 ohm cab will read about 6 ohms????

Thanks! That helps, I do recall reading somewhere that it runs at 4 ohms not 2. I have an e mail in to Kustom, see what they say.
I have a Kustom Groove 210c as well and was wondering the same question. However, This combo amp runs at 3 Ohms as is, and also it doesnt have an external speaker jack so i think that we are out of luck

Yeah, I contacted Kustom and they said as much, which is cool. This thing is LOUD and as powerful as I need at the moment anyway. I still love it!!!
Well unfortunately i had the stop speak cone tear on me , so im wondering if i can just take the head out and use it to power say a Ampeg SVT-410HLF? I would assume that this is possible but, does anybody know for sure if this is a good route to take?

I was just looking at this combo on craigslist. That is bizarre that it runs at 3 ohms with two speakers. Very unorthodox. Now I know they make a 310c (3-10s)--that would make more sense. As far as I know the amp inside the 210C is just the standard Kustom Groove 600. You should be able to take it out and use it as a head to power a cab, so long as the speaker outs are standard. Look up the specs. The Kustom Groove 600 puts out 600 watts at 2 ohms. If you can take it out and use it as the head you should be able to attach two 4 ohm cabs by daisy chaining.

You can also replace the speaker in the combo.
UPDATE: Okay I looked in the manual. You guys are right it runns 600 watts @ 3 ohms with 5% THD (which is crazy). So to answer your question, NO you cannot attach an extension cabinet, YES you can take the head out and attach it to external cabs, and it says in the manual it's safe down to 2 ohms.
Invalid Link Removed thats the users manual, underneath the speaker output it says 600W RMS 3 OHM, i assume that means that the 2 10s are somehow running at 3 ohms. Im not too sure what daisy chaining is, but would the ampeg svt 410s be running at 8ohms,4 ohm, or 2 ohms if i were to hook that cab up to my head?
Replacing the speaker wouldnt be a bad route, but this combo has since been discontinued, and ive read that these are specially designed speakers, so that they can handle all the wattage, Im not sure that i will be able to find a replacement, unless any good speaker would work.
Rob: look at my last post. It depends on the impedence of the SVT 410. Ideal cab situation would be one or two 4 ohm cabs.
alright great thanks for your input, http://ampeg.com/products/classic/svt410hlf/index.html the SVT' s nominal impedance is 4-OHMS so it looks like that would work fine. The groove 600 head runs at 450 rms at 4 ohms, so i think that is about right for that svt cab.
