Question about Blown EBS Octabass effect

A have an EBS Octabass effects box that blew on me a while ago. I was thinking of selling the broken unit on ebay in case anyone wanted the housing, the switch or any of the components. Do you think a non-working effects pedal like that is even worth listing? In other words, do people make their own effects boxes and could potentially use the good metal housing, the switch and the knobs etcetera on it to make their own? Or should I just toss the thing in the garbage.

It´s so difficult knowing. But by his box size and by his holes position probably it was harder to find some owner DIY effect that fits well in this metal housing of EBS.

weird my ebs verb has a weird problem to. I have to disconnect the power and plug it in again to make it work. I can't just switch the pedal board on without doing it to the pedal as well. I have a bunch of EBS pedals and I have no problem. I say fix the pedal if it is reasonably priced.

I think I blew it by using the wrong power supply. Either that or wet environment shorted it. We had to perform on a carpet stage after a really long rainstorm and everything was really wet. I put a towel under it but it was still really damp and the towel was soaked by the end of the gig. After that it was never the same. I can't even remember how it behaves now. But I remember it being totally useless.

One thing -- the EBS Octabass could NOT hold an Eb on my A-string. It would warble in and out of the octave if I held the note any longer than a second or two.

I use an Electroharmonix POG for guitar (on my bass) and it works great all over the entire neck. I love it.

I have an old (v.1) EBS octaver that probably has no value anymore but I've kept it for possible DIY projects. The enclosure could be used for some simple looper or patchbay pedal, or possibly for rehousing some bigger pedal.

Well, EBS is analog, POG is digital. No analog octaver can track better than even cheapest digital ones.
I'd say that even Behringer SO400 tracks better and can go lower than any analog octaver :)
I didn't like the sound of POG (it's amazing, but not my thing) and I end up with old Boss OC-2, with bad tracking and cool synthy sound :)

Depends on what you mean by "better". Several/most digital octaver/pitch shifters may hold a sustained note longer but at the same time they tend to have a latency/delay before producing the shifted note. I personally dislike this latency a lot more than a somewhat glitchy tracking of sustained notes.

The MXR BOD (analog) is in my opinion currently one of the best octavers both in terms of tone and tracking. Mine easily tracks a G on the E string, and even an F and F# for as long as I normally need to play them.
I also own an EBS octaver (second gen) which does not track nearly as well. Recently I bought the T-Rex Quint machine in the hope it would be good, but it has this annoying latency typical of digital pitch shifters.

For me it worked better EBS than MXR in the higher register. I had less latency issues with the EBS. But really both tracked not so good for me, so I´m much happier with my OC-2.
