Question about bracing

Hi all,
I'm going to improve one of my Ashdown cabs by bracing the inside. I'll put a stick of wood from front to back, side to side and up and botton. I already have all the materials but I have one question. When the bracing is in place, should I glue together the pieces that meet in the center of the cab? ... You know, the cross that is made in the middle of the cab)

You certainly can and I would if they meet nicely but you don't have make them meet in the middle if it's awkward to do so because of handle placement or something.

you're right, handle placement will do that a bit tricky.

I'd imagine the bracing would have increased rigidity, therefore better projection if it were part of a single system and glued together if it meets. But I'm no expert. This is a good question, maybe Bill Fitzmaurice will chime in?

Only if they're touching, and there's no necessity for that.

What's size are the pieces of wood?

Have you researched what is the best size for the most bracing and the least weight addition?

Have you looked into other types of material?

Have you looked into individual bracing for the sides of the cab?

How will you mount each piece?

Does it matter that each brace creates a minimum amount of pressure against each side of the cab to make any difference?

3/4" dowel, double thick strips of plywood, can use most anything that isn't flimsy really.

And yes, opposite panels. One side to the other, top to bottom, etc.
