Question about Ibanez gsr basses

I absolutely LOVE my Ibanez GSR200. The neck makes it fun and easy to move around when playing. Soooo glad my instructor put this bass in my hands when I mentioned that the Squier just wasn't working out well for me. It was lighter and less bulky for me.

a few months ago while vacationing in hawaii, I've tried out an Ibanez gsr205sm through a fender rumble v3 100 and it sounded pretty killer. I don't know if it's just me or does the gsr205sm seem to have a more punchier sound than the Ibanez sr305. I like the sr305. especially since I own one. it's just that the gsr205sm has an incredibly punchy sound for a cheap bass. and the sr305 has a more smoother, but versatile sound. Whatever the case, I still declare that Ibanez soundgear basses is one of the best active basses I've played along with schecter stiletto basses.

I can see that some people like these basses and some people don't. it's all a matter of opinion. before anyone says anything, I don't plan to purchase an Ibanez gsr bass. I currently own an Ibanez sr305 and I dig this bass. so you don't have to worry about it. Oh and I forgot to bring this up since this is a zombie thread. or at least I assume this is. it's something I like to post if anyone here brings up a zombie thread.

Hmmm... Zombie Thread Bump (cuz I used the search function LOL). I have one of the GSR105 Mahogany versions on the way. I've tried 'em in GC and like the ergonomics, but what's the word on the electronics? And yes, I love the simplicity of one PU and two knobs (...and 8 fingers, 2 thumbs, and lotsa places to put 'em...). This will be a live-gig backup unit, semi-pro dude with hundreds of gigs under the belt. :)

The only reason I don't recommend GSR basses is because of how cheap SR basses are. You can find an Ibanez SR500 for as little as $300 used at GC. Can probably find a 300 for even less. I think the Soundgears are much better than the GSRs.

This!

A Made in Japan late 80’s to early 2000’s SR 800 cost $799.99 brand new. I just bought one in new condition a few months back for $300.00. I recommend anything from and SR 400 and up used. You will be much happier.

But, if I had to go with any beginner bass, my first choice would be an Ibanez Soundgear GSR.

I have owned these basses since 1993 and know a ton about them. If you have anymore questions later, feel free to hit me up.

There's a guy on youtube who praises the Ibanez gsr200 and the Ibanez gsr205. he says that the Ibanez gsr basses are pretty decent bass guitars. here's one of his clips.

At first I thought that dude was Randy Jackson, the guy that calls everyone “dog” a lot and then judges people on that singing show.

That's actually maxproud on youtube. and yeah he kinda does look like randy jackson. this guy reviews lower-priced bass guitars and many of them sounded good. his clips are proof that you don't need to spend lots of money on a good playing bass.
