Question about mankind.

Why yes, people do exist who have the sense to understand that chaos, destruction, and failure are the results of accidents, while function, order, and purpose are the results of design.

What astonishes me is that people exist who can think the opposite...

Order, chaos, same thing. It all comes from and ends up in the same place. Just different ways of experiencing the same thing, which is consciousness, or life.

Let me put it this way: A house is designed by intelligence to have function, order, and purpose. An accidental gas main explosion can cause chaos, destruction, and failure, reducing the house to a pile of rubble.

Only an idiot would have faith in the idea that the gas main explosion could turn a pile of rubble into a functioning home.

It takes an observer with needs to perceive either "design" or "chaos."

But generally, it's easier to cultivate livestock and crops and build permanent shelters than it is to live nomadic lifestyles, hunt and gather, and evade predators. That's a "why" answer if you really have to have one.

Evidence suggests that agriculture was a response to the Younger Dryas climate event (which may have been caused by a metrorite impact on the North American ice shield) meaning that hunting got less profitable, requiring as change in food acquisition. This is not certain, but seems likely according to current research.

The biggest ever (and almost total) extinction of life occured when an early form of bacteria started producting oxygen. Man is not alone in harming the environment. Man is alone in that he has the capability to be conscious of what he is doing.

Yep. I doubt locust swarms have moments of doubt about the devastation they cause.

And although I am no expert in the evolutionary behaviour of locusts, I suspect they have seized on the opportunity presented to them by our increase proliferation of arable farming over the millennia.

A question about mankind? What IS mankind? Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Here comes all the Darwin worshippers to beat up on a guy who is actually humble enough to think there might be something out there greater than us.

Though I do admit, he isn't doing a very good job of presenting this idea and would frankly be a turn-off to most reasonable thinking people.

He's more than welcome to think what he wants, but the opportunity to challenge such beliefs should be afforded to the 'Darwin worshippers'.

As I said earlier, there have been some brilliant discussions in the lobby from both sides without resorting to mud-slinging...even if I do think slobake and his acolytes are all fruitcakes :)

I figured you would chime in on that. :D

Thanks for being cool.

No worries. No point any of us incurring infractions for the sake of posting something deliberately inflammatory that will end up mod-thwacked anyway.

All my previous infractions have expired. I can afford to take a hit or two. Or do these things accumulate?.......uh oh.

Just PM your posts and I'll put them up and argue with myself, I've only ever had warnings. :ninja:
