Question about new sound set-up, powered speakers & in-ears!

Hi all, besides playing bass at church I'm also learning to do sound. We were just gifted a set of Line 6 Stagesource L3m's (and an L3s sub-woofer to go with them!) My first question is how many amps will this system draw? The speakers say they're 1400 watts and the sub is 1200 (I always thought subs needed to be more powerful?). My 35 year old electronics tells me that 4000 watts divided by 110 volts will pull a little over 36 amps. The head sound guy says he doesn't think so- but doesn't know what the draw could be. Any help will be appreciated! We're doing a pretty comprehensive makeover of the stage to accommodate these changes, so now would be the time if we need to add another electrical circuit.

We are also getting a Behringer in-ear set up that looks amazing- 16 channel mixers with EQ on each channel. Only drawback is that it's corded. I would love any advice that would help us get a little ahead of the learning curve on these systems.

Add another circuit. No, it won't draw 36amps, but there are never enough circuits on a stage. My brain is too fuzzy this morning to do the math for the actual draw. Look at the amps, they should tell you current draw on the label.

I recommend the use of Google and a read of the associated user manuals..

"corded" is a sort-of accurate descriptor of the Behringer P16 system.. yes, it's wired, but the P16M (monitor stations) are connected using CAT5 (network) cable - which transports the 16 channels of audio (and power in some configurations) - and shouldn't be an issue for a church whose musicians are usually static.

You will also need a Behringer X32/XR-series digital console with an Ultranet connection to use them, or a P16I (sending unit) and some form of "16-ch cable" to get your mix from a non-Behringer mixer to the P16M's.

There is no way the amp may ever pull so much. 1400x2+1200 = 4000 is a maximal theorical peak value, not continuous drawing. Real consumption may barely be a 5th of that.
The max draw is indicated in W on the back of each speaker. For example, for the sub alone it is 250 W, which in 110v translates to 2,3A.

I just looked on Line 6's site (where I probably should've looked first) and for the sub it says "Power Consumption: 250 watts(1/8th power)" Does that mean power consumption would be 1000 watts if you turn it up halfway? It has 2 class D amps, each listed as 622 watts

No, 1/8th is generally considered idling use... actual use will vary based on load, and it is NOT linear, given the nature of music peaks and valleys.

You can't really use the output power ratings to accurately determine power consumption - two different things. About all you have to go on is the "250 watts at 1/8 power".
