Using Boss or similar pedals with easy-access batteries and no board? I think it’s a time-consuming pain to rip off a Velcroed pedal and unscrew the box to access the battery.
On bass, when I use a compressor pedal, it´s always on. So regulated PSU, and the pedal is secured to the amp.
However on GTR, the Rotoverb, Phaser or Wha were always with rechargeable batteries (I know...) to avoid cluttering in front of the mic stand and keep the possibility to alter the stage set-up.
Pedals were modded to have an external switch to disconnect the battery inside the pedal (so jacks can remain plugged during breaks etc...). And of course I sometimes forgot to switch them back...
