Question about pedal power and supply

Batteries.
Because i dislike teeny flimsy wires and connectors.
because wall warts clog up power strips.
Because it's hard enough finding enough quality AC power in most situations.
i use no pedals when playing bass, maybe one if my amp doesn't have onboard reverb and tremolo when playing other string instruments, but might use up to 6 pedals for solo act.

Have you considered a quality multi-outlet regulated power supply with better quality cables? No wall wart, no power quality issues, no teeny flimsy wires, easily 6 outputs.

How about converting string plucking energy into a pedal power generator. Seems that there is a lot of ineffiency related to an amp and speaker cabinet that can be harvested and put to some use.

Thinking out loud....
There’s energy is in vibrating strings.
Pickups and other transducers don’t have a lot of effiency...yet.
Can heat from an amp be converted to electrical energy.
Can a speaker power micro sized haptic energy generators.
Pedals can be built using very low voltage electronics.

Maybe science fiction....maybe not.
That’s a great idea. Now I’m wondering why it hasn’t been done? beans-on-toast, your assignment, if you accept it, is to come up with a pedal that modulates via string vibration. This message will self destruct in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...

best for me would be a power supply powered by a rechargeable battery.

That's certainly an option, though isolation (between pedals) with a single battery is pretty tough (there ae some ways to fake it) whereas there are quite a few line powered supplies specifically designed with isolation.

Is it existing a rechargeable 9 volts batteries who have an interesting autonomy for this purpose?
Typical 9V rechargable batteries are not suitable because they have a lower mAH (capacity) as well as a lower fully charged state voltage. There are some specialty exceptions with regard to voltage but they require proprietary chargers.

I prefer to have the battery option. I didn't realize how important it was until I was in a session and the pedals were just making too much noise plugged in. Switched to battery and it got quiet. I admit I don't know enough about electronics to sort out the problem if there was another way to do it, but batteries saved the day then, so I continue to want that option.
The issue of available outlets live is another real concern. I run a very small pedal board and there is no power supply that I have found that fits under the small Pedaltrain board. (I'm open to suggestion if you know of one!). So I wind up with a tangle of three 1-spots to plug in.
Just curious - if you use one of the smaller Pedaltrain boards, is there a particular reason why you don’t daisy-chain?

I use a Pedaltrain Nano and three pedals. The first in the chain is a Boss TU-3, which has the ability to power several other pedals. A single one-spot into the TU-3, a daisy-chain power cable from that to the other two pedals, and I’m sorted. The output of my power supply would allow me to connect at least two or three more pedals in this way.

I have experienced some noise from time to time, not enough to be a problem, but I’m thinking I could get rid of that with a noise gate if need be.

Interesting. I've never heard of this and it sounds like a welcome solution. How do you know if your first pedal has the ability to power other pedals? And is a daisy chain power cable between pedals any different than a standard quarter inch jack from one to the other?

I found out about the TU-3’s ability to power other pedals trough ordinary product research, reading the specs and so on. But it’s actually just a pass-through, and I only use it for neatness and convenience, as it’s not strictly a necessity.

Daisy-chain power cables have a female plug where you can plug in your 9v power supply, so I could just have used that, but I like my board neat with no cables dangling. You can get these cables with plugs enough to power six pedals or more, so the only thing you need to watch is that the output of your power supply is sufficient to power all your pedals. I use an EBS power supply that delivers 1000 mA, which is more than I need. Plenty of manufacturers make this type of power supply and cables. You can find out more about the ones I use here:

I personally think the battery days are over. There's too much worry involved with 9 volts in my opinion. I want to know all my pedals are going to work when I play.

Now powering a variety of pedals is tough. See the pic of my board attached. Sorry it's not directly of the board, but I didn't have any better pictures. Here are my pedals and their requirements, in the order of the pedal chain:

TCElectronics PolyTune 3 - 9 VDC - Low Amps
Markbass Compressore - 12 VDC - 650 mA
Markbass Super Synth - 12 VDC - 500 mA
JHS Pedals Colourbox Preamp - 18 VDC - Low Amps
Providence Anadime Bass Chorus - 9 VDC - Low Amps

Not in bass pedal chain:
Boss FS-6 Footswitch - 9 VDC - Low Amps
AirTurn BT106 - Rechargable Battery

Powering all of it, I decided to get a Walrus Audio Aetos. It provides 9 VDC to the 9 VDC pedals, and I can tie two 9 volt outputs together for one 18v output for the JHS Colourbox. The Aetos also provides an additional outlet on the Power Supply intended for wall warts. I used a low profile plug, 18 inch extension cord and put the 12 volt Markbass wall wart under the board. I attached a power splitter to this wall wart and that powers the 2 Markbass pedals. The FS-6 is using a OneSpot 9 volt battery adapter that goes from a 9 VDC barrel plug to a 9 volt battery connector.

All in all, my whole board runs off of one power cable, so that's my reasoning.
