Question about recording with an X32

I am wanting to know if I connect to the Behringer X32 via USB or FireWire will the signal be pre or post fader? I will soon be recording a live show for the first time from one of these boards, and this will be the first time actually from any digital board. I want to learn as much as I can about it before I get there. I talked to the sound guy using the board, and he said he's never recorded from it and didn't know the answer. My experience is just with recording from analog boards from the direct outs, through an interface, and then into my laptop.

Hi,
You can configure the X32's USB out (the one on the card in back, not the port on the top) or FW out either as a main mix or as an out just post the preamps on the inputs, using the whole board as an audio interface. There are multiple configuration options that would be too comprehensive to go into here, but please feel free to check out the manual under the Downloads tab here: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Thanks for the info! I watched a YouTube video a couple of days after posting my question that was specifically about recording with the X32 and Reaper. It was pretty helpful. If I understood correctly, the default setting for the audio card in the back was a Pre preamp/everything signal. As you mentioned, there were settings that could be changed so you could make it Post preamps, EQ, or Faders. To make the post setting changes it was a little confusing, mainly because I'm so unfamiliar with the board. I think it had something to do with selecting "p-16" and "output," then changing to the desired Pre or Post setting...I think? I would like to use the preamps, but if I can't figure it out this first time recording, the default setting will be just fine.
