Question about set up

Doin a set up on an MIM Fender Jazz. It seems that when the saddles are adjusted to proper height I get buzzing at frets 1-5. I've adjusted them to ring clearly but now the action is uncomfortably high. Does this mean my nut is worn down and needs to be replaced. Only reason Im convinced of that is the bass is only 2 or 3 years old. Any thoughts?

The strings im working with are Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky's 105, 85, 65, 45...could that have anything to do with the issue Im having?

As always, any input is greatly appreciated.

To me it sounds like your trusrod is a bit to tight. When a neck is buzzing within the first frets, normally you have to loosen the trusrod. Grey Willis setup tips are quite helpful, just search for it online.
