Question about sliding in tabs

I have seen this a couple times before and never really understood how to do it.

This tab is for Bad Fish by Sublime

verse;
G||--------------------------|--------------------------|
D||-----------7--9--7--6--7--|--------9--11--12/--------|
A||--------7-----------------|------9-------------------|
E||--5---5-------------------|--7--------------------0--|

on the D string it says 12/ and I don't understand where you are supposed to side to. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I don't understand :ninja:

Generally / is a slide up and \ is a slide down. If it is in front of the note, you slide *to* that note. If it is after the note, you slide *from* that note.

If it is important where you slide from and to (such as Black Magic Woman), then you should see something like 12 \ 5. This is where ascii tabs really fall down since it looks much better when printed properly.
