Question about Strap length

Ant, Glad to see you hear on TB.
Met you a couple of years ago at a wedding. You were a guest of a guy that's a bass player. I was in the wedding band Powerhouse.

My situation this. When I practice, mostly I sit down with the bass on my knee. When I gig, the bass is generally lower than when I practice. Consequently, it's harder to play. When I adjust the strap and bring the bass higher, I sometimes get cramps, because of the wrist angle I guess. How do I mitigate this phenomenon?

I'm no Mr. Wellington, but I think you should practice standing up more. :)
Seriously though, I found that my accessability to the fingerboard was significantly different between standing and sitting for practice that I couldn't always get the same licks right when standing. I know your problem is different but I think the solution is the same. I mostly practice standing now.

Thanks to one and all. I do stand up a little more now when practicing, but my old body doesn't like to stand for a couple hours at a clip holding the bass around my neck so much anymore. Gonna try to hang the bass off my neck while sitting instead of resting it on my leg while I sit to see if that will help.

Thanks again for the suggestions
