question about warwick corvette and electronics

On the warwick site,

I noticed that only the corvette std allows you to choose either active or passive pickups.

All other corvettes and all other models are active pickups and active preamps.

So if one choose passive pups for the corvette std, is the pre-amp active?

Is it possible to go 100% passive for the other models like the thumb or the corvette FNA jazzman?

anyone has any experience in this?

I'm looking for 100% passive on a bass, but everywhere I look, the ones that attract me in terms of looks and playability all have active electronics.

Any advise for me regarding this, other than "buy the bass and then change the electronics to all passive"?

Warwick have a nice option with the volume knob that you can turn the preamp off.
Or you could just rip the preamp out and get a new passive one.
You might also have the option to custom order one from warwick... but that might be a tad expensive.

There is no such thing as passive preamp.
I heard that , in CS, they charge only the prices of the stuff u put in.

Um, people confuse preamps with EQ.

EQ is a pre-amp(pre-amplifier).

If you have a bass with active pickups, means u have a bass with pickups that have preamp build in. Anyway, passive or active, u will get 2/1 vol control, and 1 tone control(at least on corvette std). So, no other controls. (like bass cut/boost, middle cut/boost etc.)

If you have a bass with passive pickups and an EQ(name it pre-amp, oh well), then that means that u have a bass with passive pickups and an active(never heard of passive) equalizer.(additional control other the sound, bass boost/cut, etc etc)

So, answering ur question, no ,there wont be a preamp build in, because corvette std don't come with EQ. A corvette std with active pickups does have a pre-amp. (Built in the pickups) but NO eq also.

I hope I'm misunderstanding your post, otherwise it is completely wrong.

Specifically talking Warwick here, they offer in the Corvette full passive, passive pups with active pre amp., and active pups with active pre amp

With the all passive you get either Vol Vol Tone or Vol Balance Tone (can't quite remember)

With the passive/active you get Vol (push/pull to bypass the active circuit of the pre amp), Balance, stacked Treb/Bass boost/cut.

With the all active you get the same controls as Passive/Active, but when you pull the volume knob out the pickups still use some power as they do indeed have another pre amp built into each one

You have an EQ with ANY bass with an active preamp, thats the whole point.

No, it is not completely wrong, BUT i was wrong about that Corvette std don't come with EQ. (strange how come never got to see one with EQ, maybe coz don't like them, hmmmm)
Anyway, u are right! :)

You seem confused about the components when companies say it's an "active" bass.
Most active basses still use passive pickups, but the pickups are run through a preamp. Warwick is the same way.
Very few companies actually have active pickups and a preamp...EMG is a perfect example.

But as far as the Corvette electronics options;
Yes you can get a 100% passive Corvette Standard. To my knowlege this is the only german Warick model available passive (you can get passives in the real cheaper models too).
Every GC around here has these passives in stock.
The active Corvette Standard and Proline do have a feature where you pull up on the volume knob, and it eliminates the preamp, so you can play it as a passive bass.

Very few Warwick models have passive pickups.
Almost all of them have both active pickups and active electronics.

The push/pull de-activates active electronics, but pickups are still active
