Question for Boss Oc-2 Owners

I recently bought one and its really glitchy with the pitch jumping alot. it doesnt track too well im wondering if its supposed to be that glitchy or i bought a defective one. im playing it in the higher register and glitches mostly when i ring out the notes. i have it 3rd in my chain after my tuner and boss cs2. any advice would help. Also, im using a passive warwick.

That's how they are. To improve the tracking, there are a few things you can do.
First, put it first in your chain
Second, put an SFX Micro Thumpinator or HPF III in front of it to reduce the lower frequencies getting slammed into the pedal.
Third, play the parts 1 octave up
Fourth, don't use the Octave 2, only Octave 1

Yeah, they do that; yours is not defective. For some people, it's part of the charm. But yes, longer notes tend to glitch out. If you want glitch-free tracking, you need to keep the notes short and the playing touch light.

The modern, digital octavers do track much better than the OC2. I also have the Boss ME-50B multi-effect pedal. When I want an octaver that tracks well, I use that. But when I want one that kicks you in the groin, I go for the OC2. :D

Hmm I have no issue with tracking or glitchyness with my oc2, I can actually track it down to an F on the E string.. Mines after a ovnifx smoothie compressor so that might help, but even with the compressor off I have to try to get mine to glitch.

The only real tracking issues I have with mine are on open E and 5th fret and below on the G string (not totally sure why), but I don't play that low on the neck with the OC-2 on anyway. I use flats and can play with both pickups and tone wide open and get good tracking. Even better with my compressor, neck pickup only, tone rolled off, playing up the neck, etc.
