Question for learning beginning theory

Sooo, just starting to learn some theory. So I'm on intervals. My lesson shows 12 intervals: M2-8. And says to learn these. So should I learn the notes that correspond to all 12 of these intervals for A,B,C,D,E,F and G?

You should be able to find any interval, from any starting note, ascending or descending.

So, if I say, "what note is a minor 6th above F#?" you should know that the answer is D.

Or, if I say, "what note is a major 2nd below Bb?" you should know the answer is Ab.

In my opinion/experience, a good starting point toward this goal is to have the 12 major keys and 12 minor keys totally and completely memorized. Do you know these important scales yet? If not, then I recommend to start with the 12 major scales, 100% memorized.

Go to the how to get started string (this section) post# 6. Copy it and spend 30 minutes a day with it until if asked for the notes in any scale you can name them.

For Example: OK right off the top of my head it'll just list the note as;
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A --- OK, some of those are going to be sharped, which ones? Post # 6 has the answer.
