Question for the SX crowd

Hi

I'm thinking of eventually trying a 5 string bass and I'm thinking SX is the way to go. It would be a serviceable instrument if I like 5 string. If not I can sell it for nearly what I paid for it. Even if it ends up sitting in a closet I'm not out much bucks.

My question. The site lists the various Jazz necks at either 1 9/16 or 1 3/4, the same as their 4 string necks. Did they just add a 5th tuner and different nut, or is it a typo? If it is correct how is the string spacing to play? I play fingerstyle only. Also is the pup routing the same as a Jazz 5? I'm sure I could e-mail them and get some of the answers, but as it will be months before I could pull the trigger on this I thought TB would be a better place to find out the info plus I could get feedback from actual SX 5 string owners on how the basses are to play, which might help me decide if this is something I really want to do.

Thanks

i have SJB 4s and 5s and though I can't tell you what the widths are, I assure you that the 5 is not a 4 neck with extra tuners.

The 5s strings are close spaced, but not too cramped, IMO. I don't try to slap it, but it is comfortable to pluck.
