Question on EBS preamps

I have experience using the EBS 1 version II and the Classic rackmount preamps, and the MicroBass II. I like them very much and wouldn't think of selling mine.
The MicroBass II is pretty much like the preamp stage of the HD350 as far as design and sound quality. It's hard to beat for the combination of quality, features, size and weight.
The EBS rackmount preamps are different beasts altogether. EBS has never made an integrated preamp/poweramp head that sounds anything like their rackmount preamps. The EQ is additive only, with three bands of active filters. The sound quality is extremely hi-fi. It literally makes old strings sound like new ones. The filters have exceptional dynamic range, and the XLR out can produce a true +4 level signal that will drive anything. The only down side to EBS rackmount preamps is that you have to work with the EQ a while and really get to understand it to be able to use the EQ effectively onstage.

they are no longer making the rackmount stuff unfortunately... I'd love to get one, but can't find one anywhere...
I have the Microbass II - this is the best sounding, smallest killer preamp I have ever used! it sounds particularly good with fender and similarly voiced instruments. It s very punchy and clean when turned up loud and is very versatile - from driving a poweramp, to being only a DI or headphone practice amp, or even as an A/B switch between instruments. I've recorded albums in studio with it and played huge outdoor shows, it has never failed me once...
the EQ takes a while to get the hang of, but to be honest, you don't really need it...
I never travel without mine, sometimes I literally just takes the EBS and my IEM for the smallest travelling rig ever!

Hey, thanks to all for your feedback... although you have the microbassII and seems happy with it you'ld like to try the EBS1 ? You still expect something different from the rack version ? I'm a happy user of an mb II and receive an offer to exchange for an EBS1 V2... don't know,the mbII is really small and just need a 9v batt, headphones and your bass... so, what would be the advantage of using the rack version ?
