Double Bass Question on the Vic’s Pickups models

Hi all, I’m looking at the model A (called Slap) which mounts to the underside of the fingerboard and the model B (wing bridge pickup) which gets sort of wedged into the bridge. Are these essentially the same pickups, with the difference being the model A is mounted with double sided tape? Or is there something I’m missing?

thanks!

I have the model B but if you check out Vic's website there are photos of the pickups and the fingerboard pickup looks different from the bridge pickup. Vic (Zac) is very approachable and responds to questions via email, usually very quickly, he got back to me within a couple of hours when I had a question. Good luck.

I'd second contacting Zac, he's great.

I've got the model C which provides both a model B for mounting in the bridge wing and a model A for mounting under the fingerboard. Mine are wired in stereo to feed into a blending preamp or to a mixer. I have a K&K dual channel pro ST preamp mounted on my quiver for easy volume and blending control.

Zac advertises the model B bridge wing pickup as having 2 piezo surfaces. I don't know for sure if the same holds true for the model A fingerboard pickup. He does advertise that the model B can be used without a preamp if necessary. It may be because of the dual piezo surfaces.

To get clarification on this and other questions, I'd highly recommend contacting Zac.

That’s the thing, the look the same to me.

Ah… yeah if the B has two piezo transducers that would make sense. I might reach out to Vic, thanks for the responses!

Well, besides the longer cord if you imagine the pic for the model A being from the top down (showing the logo) and the pic for model B bring upside down you could see why I might ask the question. The cabling/shrink wrap up to the transducer is exactly the same.

When @dhergert responded saying the model B has two transducers that made sense.

Either way I appreciate the input.
