I'm taking all of this medication because I've had pneumonia for the past couple of weeks, and...the name "Ray Brown" didn't ring a bell for several seconds.

Do you know how TERRIFYING that is? I better talk to my doctor about reducing the dosage...

My quiver buzzed whenever I played low A, so the bow went back to its original spot: on top of the piano (or, in the case of a grand, just on the rim when the top is up). I must confess that, on my jazz gigs, it only sees the duty Fuqua mentioned somewhere long ago: last note of a ballad. But I really WORK it then, oh yeah...

Man-- you guys are killing me. My students are quitely reading a selection and I laughed out loud several times.

I got my quiver from Bob G., but took it off when I mounted the preamp. I think I'll put mine on my stand too-- great idea!

I bought my quiver from Mike Pecanic on ebay, it was cheap, looks good and works great, no buzzes at all!

I have a beautifully made quiver that doesn't buzz and is shaped so I can be quick off the draw adn return it in a panic too. However, I put it on the kitchen scales together with the bow and it came to more than a pound. I swear my bass sounds better without it but informed people tell me that the forces down there are so large it doesn't make a difference. In that case neither would a lighter tailpeice. I now attach it to the stand and plan to make a stand I now see that others have thought of first - thanks for the pics guys.

Sometimes weight isn't so bad... my Juzek had a horrible wolf tone when I first got it and strung it up, and I wasn't looking forward to playing with solutions to move or eliminate it. Mounting a quiver to it made it go away.

I just got my quiver from Mike Pecanic yesterday. I like it. It looks nice on my bass (I went for the black) and the boning keeps it open, so I don't have to worry about accessing my bow.

Sounds like soemthign Chris may be interested... might keep his cat from attacking his bass . I admire your restraint Ed.. some have not been so astute so far .

My first Quiver was a gift from Chris White in NYC about 35 years ago (he was a great Bassist and Educator and made these by hand), I was still a teenager then. I had asked him about getting one and the next time I visited that studio, there was one waiting for me as a 'gift' from him! I was willing to buy one but he just made it and gave it to me. He was a 'very' nice guy. It was hand made out of Leather..... I now use the ones from Kolstein. The work just fine and I tie them top and bottom at the tail piece.. No special way.. It's different every time I put one on..

Strange though.. I've never had any Arrows in my Bow quiver.. I didn't see any Arrows.. I didn't see any Indians either...lol
