Question regarding the G&L situation

Yeah,
I sent them a bass for warranty work and haven’t heard a thing!
No confirmation or any return!

Absolutely nothing!!

I’m out a 2000$ bass!

Freaking unreal!
That is SO LOUSY! What dealer did you buy it through? Hopefully they can get it back for you. Even if the warranty work hasn't been done, at least you'd have the bass back and could have it fixed elsewhere, though you'd have to pay for the repair.

Obviously they can't just "disappear" the bass, it's someone's property.

It sure is, but under the circumstances, will anyone care about that? Hopefully, their dealers have some way to file a claim for things like that. Maybe they'll generate some way for customers to file a claim directly. Since there has been no "official" announcement (at least as far as I know) they are probably still trying to work out the details of what's going to happen. Hopefully, customers' property on their care is one of the situations that will eventually (and quickly) be resolved.

This might help, might not. Worth a try. Maybe try contacting BBE Sound, same address but different phone numbers. They owned G&L. The McLarens are listed as Pres and VP of BBE Sound. Maybe they can help you with your bass. Also try links on www.bbesound.com which is their website.

This is where and who I dealt with ( fantastic person, BTW)
I became a huge fanboy after dealing with him.
Up until day of delivery he was uber responsive and helpful.

I'm not going to throw anyone under the bus, by potentially putting them in an awkward position, but if you dig around a bit, you'll find there are several members on this forum who personally know Memo, and some of the other former G&L personalities.

You might be able to get a message directly to Memo, and you might get some kind of answers / useful info as to where you stand, and what to do next.

Not saying that having those connections guarantees you satisfaction, but it might open a door that gets you there in the end.

Best of luck.

So, I've been out of the loop and just found out this morning that G&L is now in the "was" category. I ran across it when I checked while trying to think if I had received the SB-2 bridge pickup I ordered during their sale a couple weeks ago or not. It's still pending, but the money's already cleared through Paypal. I emailed the G&L store customer service and happened to do a search if anyone was having issues with store orders and ran across the news. Not badmouthing G&L. Just seeing if anyone is in a similar boat as me, and waiting on an order from their store, and if so, if they've heard anything from whoever might still be there or received a refund. Basically deciding if I need to dispute with Paypal later today.
I’m in the same boat, also SB-2 bridge pickups, also bought during the recent sale.
I’ve disputed the charge with my card company and they’ve said a resolution will be decided by sometime in December. I’m not overly concerned at this point since the dispute instantly takes it off my balance, and I can’t see how they won’t decide in my favor given that their contact will likely go unanswered. Unless of course my pickups actually ship before then, which I’d be happy about.
In the meantime I paid too much for the only SB-2 bridge pickup I could find online, and even more for a Lynx neck pickup to pair with it.
If you only needed one pickup for the bridge, I think there’s still a Lynx bridge pickup on Reverb, the mate of the neck pickup I bought.

Memo is a stand up guy. Has helped me out with questions about basses I was preparing to buy, clarification on specs, etc, always super responsive. Even sent me a new tuning key for free (for a bass I got used no less).

Pretty sure this is where they will pop up (owned by MIRC and sells reclaimed parts).

EBMM is a lot bigger than G&L and in addition to the iconic Stingray they have one of the highest selling signature guitar models out there (Petrucci). Then there are the strings as well. Lakland is probably the closest in operations
I was just perusing through this thread to catch up and had to comment on this one...

The MM Luke models must be doing pretty well, too. Our country music artist and our bandleader have bought 7 different Luke models in the last two years and I hear that two more are scheduled to hit his door before Christmas!

I have no idea why they are buying so many of those guitars! The boss plays one particular Luke model pretty regularly, but the bandleader switches them around and he's loaned one to the new second guitar player, who I hear is working on buying it.

And I sit on my little corner of the stage with my single new Stingray Special. It's all I need, that's for sure. So we're an all-MM all the time bunch o' guys....😁

I’d love to see a pic of all those EBMM’s on stage.
